Es correcto utilizar la preposición a con los verbos en primera persona como coloreo a los, menciono a las, observo al, o no es necesario utilizarla. Con qué verbos sí es necesario escribirla.

Respuesta: 

El uso de la preposición a en los casos que plantea la pregunta no tiene que ver con la persona verbal, sino con el tipo de complemento directo de que se trate. Cuando este es un complemento directo de cosa no debe llevar preposición. Yo coloreo los dibujos; tú observas los pájaros; nosotros mencionamos los jardines. Tampoco tiene que ver con la conjugación a la que pertenece el verbo. Ejemplos: Él lee un libro; ustedes escriben una canción. Cuando el complemento directo es de persona lleva la preposición. Ejemplos: Tú observas a Juan; nosotros mencionamos a los hombres.
